Job Overview

Overview

The Industrial Engineer supports process improvement and labor standards work at the Crocs Ohio Distribution Center (OHDC) in Dayton. This role develops and maintains engineered labor standards and standard work, analyzes fulfillment processes across the site, supports work cell and layout design, and helps run continuous improvement projects with Operations and Training & Continuous Improvement.

The Industrial Engineer works under the direction of the Senior Industrial Engineer and the Manager, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, and supports DC transformation and automation projects through data analysis, layout work, testing and documentation. This is a hands-on, floor-facing role focused on measurable gains in safety, quality, delivery and cost.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain engineered labor standards using time studies, work sampling and predetermined time systems (MOST/MTM). Validate standards against WMS and LMS data and keep them current as processes change.
  • Build and update standard work, SOPs, job aids and visual standards with Operations, Training & Continuous Improvement.
  • Analyze process performance data in Excel, SQL and Power BI to identify trends, quantify opportunities and track KPIs such as UPH, cost per unit, throughput and accuracy.
  • Map processes and value streams, identify waste and recommend improvements to workload balance, slotting, pick paths, pack station flow and dock scheduling.
  • Support work cell, pack station and layout design. Produce AutoCAD layouts, apply ergonomics and 5S principles, and help build capacity and staffing models.
  • Support DC transformation and automation projects by gathering requirements, collecting baseline data, helping with acceptance testing and ramp-up, and tracking open issues.
  • Help plan and run kaizen events, A3 problem-solving and Lean Six Sigma projects. Own smaller improvement projects end to end.
  • Support labor planning with standards-based staffing and capacity estimates for daily operations and peak season.
  • Train and coach supervisors, team leads and associates on standard work and process changes. Help sustain improvements through audits and follow-up.
  • Keep project documentation, metrics and status updates current and present findings to site leadership.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Required qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field.
    • 2-5 years of industrial engineering or continuous improvement experience, preferably in distribution, fulfillment, logistics or manufacturing.
    • Experience with time studies, work measurement and labor standards.
    • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools, including value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis and A3.
    • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SQL and/or Power BI.
    • Experience with AutoCAD or similar layout software.
    • Clear written and verbal communication. Comfortable spending significant time on the DC floor and presenting to associates and leaders.
  • Preferred qualifications
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
    • Experience with WMS and LMS systems (Manhattan or similar).
    • Experience in an automated distribution center with conveyor, sortation or automated storage.
    • Experience with simulation or statistics tools (FlexSim, Minitab or similar).
    • Footwear, apparel or consumer-goods distribution center experience.
    • Veterans are encouraged to apply. Military experience in industrial engineering, logistics, operations analysis, process improvement or facilities planning may be a strong fit for this role.
