Introduction on the role:  
The Store Development Manager is a key role within the Crocs Japan Retail team. In this position, he/she will work together with the Retail Lead to come up with a retail strategy and budget. The role has overall responsibility to drive retail business through development of the retail store/SIS network in Japan.

  • The role is to manage and drive all operational aspects of store openings, closings, relocations and renovations to ensure smooth implementation. at all Crocs retail stores and SIS. in the Japan market. 
  • The role is responsible for finding right locations to open stores/SIS, negotiate with landlords/developers to be aligned with the retail strategy and plan.
  • He/she will review and negotiate the extension of the current lease contracts at existing stores/SIS.
  • He/she is responsible to manage communication and relationship with external counterparts for existing door lease/contract and potential new door opportunities.
  • Organize legal contracts and agreements with developers/landlords.
  • Work closely with marketing team/VMD team to support for planning right store designs and VMD tools.

What You'll Do

Store Development & Execution  

  • Using established procedures and guidelines for stores/kiosks/(SIS); handle and complete a variety of concurrent implementation projects in a timely and high-quality manner that meets and exceeds the brand expectations.
  • Ensure projects are realized according to agreed planning, budget and design/quality levels.
  • Develop and own clear and timely communication of all relevant project information, risks, challenges, through leadership of project manager(s)
  • Develop vital outstanding industry practices and tools to ensure brand elevation from the business unit.
  • Work with collaborators to gather, clarify and document project requirements. Clarify and drive project commitments.
  • Work with Crocs teams including Legal, Commercial, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Retail IT, Product Merchandising & HR
  • Advise team members on technical issues as they arise.
  • Be responsible for the procurement process from tendering process through final delivery for all store related and concept items.

Project Management  

  • Responsible for the successful management and implementation of several concurrent projects.
  • Coordinate, host and chair Store Development Meetings, both internally and with external counterparts.
  • Establish and meet goals, assign and direct the work of others, and handle multiple requests with minimal direction.
  • Lead project reviews to assess schedules, processes, and risks.
  • Facilitate communication and negotiation.
  • Drive and lead the requirements of projects from inception to delivery.
  • Take a lead role to implement project schedules, deadlines, and standards, and to hold task owners accountable for project deliverables.
  • Understand project management knowledge areas including scope definition, schedule development, resource planning, quality control, budget control, team development, communications, and risk management.

3rd Party Supplier & Client Relationship Management  

  • Lead the current network of suppliers, as well as expansion and further development of the regional network of suppliers and 3rd parties, such as, production suppliers, general contractors
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned corporate clients/partners/landlords throughout the implementation process, maintaining a customer-focused, yet firm approach.
  • Develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the goals of the project and the responsibilities toward the brand.
  • Maintain a clear customer focus; dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers in a timely manner.
  • Take personal responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • 5+ years of professional proven experience in retail/fashion, with design & concept development management experience
  • ​​Experience in opening retail stores in Japan
  • Fashion/Footwear/retail experience is preferred
  • Experience in retail processes, systems and strategies
  • Strong MS Office Skills and other relevant programs and systems such as MS Project, SAP etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in Japanese
  • Writing / reading / listening skills in English
  • Ability to travel in market
