Overview
The primary purpose of a Tooling Engineer is to design, develop, and maintain the tools, molds, and fixtures essential for efficient and high-quality footwear manufacturing processes. By ensuring that these tools are precisely engineered and well-maintained, Tooling Engineers play a crucial role in optimizing production efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining product quality. Their expertise directly impacts the seamless operation of manufacturing activities, contributing to the overall success and competitiveness of the organization.
What You'll Do
- Check the mold drawings, make sure the reliability, tolerances, structure, function. Update drawing and follow ECR
- Reliability Test and Measurement: Manage critical parts’ multi-functional and reliable test, manage or audit the measuring of all the critical to function (CTF) dimensions. Create and follow the control plan of all the critical dimensions, in order to make sure all these parts can pass the machine test
- Tooling and Molding Follow up: Work with all the tool shop to follow the tooling process, control the quality and process. Build the following system and quality check system of the tooling process
- Relationship and Team Work: build the good cooperation relationship with all the suppliers, build the good team work with all the colleges.

- Mold shop

KPIs:
1. Tooling Design Documentation:
- Comprehensive CAD models and detailed drawings of tools, Molds, and fixtures.
- Specifications outlining materials, dimensions, tolerances, and assembly instructions.
2. Prototype Development:
- Functional prototypes of designed tools for validation and testing purposes.
3. Process Optimization Reports:
- Analyses identifying areas for improvement in existing tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Recommendations for enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving product quality.
4. Maintenance and Repair Logs:
- Detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and tool performance assessments.
- Tooling Development Time:
- Measure of the time taken from initial design to the deployment of tooling in production.
- Aim to minimize development time while maintaining quality standards.
- Tooling Performance and Reliability:
- Assessment of tool performance metrics, such as cycle time, durability, and defect rates.
- Target high reliability with minimal downtime and consistent output quality.
- Maintenance Frequency and Downtime:
- Tracking the frequency of maintenance interventions and associated production downtime.
- Aim to reduce both through proactive maintenance strategies.
- Scrap and Rework Rates:
- Monitoring the percentage of products requiring rework or scrapped due to tooling
What You'll Bring to the Table
1. Education:
College or above
2. Experience:
At least 3 years’ Cad building and 1 years’ tooling experience.
3. Knowledge:
- Preferably familiar with CAD design software. The best will be Catia or Rhino software.
- Familiar with manufacturing processes, plastic injection molding.
- Good spoken and written English language communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem Solving and decision-making skills are a must.
- Have Leadership, planning and organizing skills.
