Overview
The Merchandise Planning Director is responsible for sales forecasting and inventory management to maximize revenues and profits in Asia region. Through collaboration with cross-functional teams the role drives top-down targets, channel demand plans, and product availability across Retail and Digital Direct to Consumer channels.
What You'll Do
Key Activities
- Lead Merchandise planning team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Build seasonal forecast by analyzing historical data, understanding market trends, and applying the merchandise assortment strategy
- Develop appropriate inventory strategies per product category, and set related Open to Buy Targets per channel
- Reforecast demand and own monthly S&OP meetings to present risks and opportunities of various scenarios
- Track sales performance and collaborate with Merchandising & Commercial team to drive markdowns and profitable sell down of inventory
- Monitor and manage inventory levels throughout product lifecycle to stay in line with OTB and turn targets
- Ensure product availability and on time product launches through inventory chase and rebalancing aligned with allocation- and supply planning teams
- Provide hind-sight analyses to impact future season product category decisions and improvements in forecasting and trading decisions
- Work with regional & global planning counterparts to improve processes and implement o9 software tools

What You'll Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in merchandize planning, demand planning, inventory management or related roles within the Retail industry.
- Understanding of various planning models, seasonal buys and Open To Buy logic.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and cultures.
- Able to operate efficiently in a matrix environment and persuasively present an educated point of view to influence business decisions.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving revenue growth and operational excellence.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Planning Software, experience in o9 is a plus.
- Fluent in English.
