Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Costing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you
will be responsible for evaluating, validating, and negotiating the cost of accessories across various product
categories. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring cost competitiveness while maintaining
target margins, quality, and functionality.
What You'll Do
Costing Analysis & Validation:
• Evaluate and validate cost breakdowns of accessories (e.g., trims, hardware, packaging, etc.) from suppliers.
• Ensure all cost elements (materials, labor, overhead, logistics) are accurate and reasonable.
• Perform should-cost analysis to benchmark and assess supplier quotes.
Cost Negotiation:
• Lead and support cost negotiations with suppliers and vendors to achieve optimal cost targets.
• Collaborate with sourcing, design, and production teams to define acceptable cost ranges and alternatives.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through material substitution, process improvement, or sourcing strategies.
• Margin Analysis & Reporting:
• Analyze cost impact on overall product margin and work cross-functionally to maintain or improve
profitability.
• Generate cost reports, presentations, and data visualizations for internal stakeholders.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with product development, design, sourcing, and production teams to align cost expectations
and technical feasibility.
• Provide technical feedback on design proposals from a cost perspective.
• Assist in early development costing to support go-to-market strategies.
Software & Systems:
• Utilize costing software, data entry in Centric and Excel to manage and track costing data.
• Develop cost models and templates to streamline costing processes.
• Maintain and update costing databases with current supplier quotes, materials, and conversion rates
What You'll Bring to the Table
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in costing, preferably in accessories, trims, apparel, footwear or consumer goods .
• Foundational understanding of manufacturing process and cost structures of costing methods, cost drivers, and margin calculations.
• Proven negotiation skills with vendors and manufacturers.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
• Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills (Bonus):
• Experience with materials sourcing or supplier development.
• Familiarity with sustainability costing or life-cycle cost analysis.
• Exposure to fashion, apparel, or hard goods development cycles.
