Overview
As Sr. Specialist, Retail Inventory Accuracy & Compliance you will play a pivotal role in optimizing inventory levels within the organization. Your responsibilities will revolve around analyzing inventory data, implementing inventory control procedures, and collaborating with various departments to ensure efficient inventory management practices.
What You'll Do
- Inventory Analysis: Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to assess inventory levels, trends, and patterns across the retail network. Identify discrepancies, excess stock, and define corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy, availability, and efficiency.
- Inventory Governance and Accuracy: Plan and execute Physical Inventory (PI) and cycle counts across all stores, ensuring compliance with company standards and timely reporting. Monitor post‑inventory actions, conduct audits, and implement corrective measures to maintain and improve inventory accuracy.
- Inventory Planning: Determine optimal inventory levels based on demand forecasts, lead times, service level agreements, and business priorities. Establish and maintain reorder points to ensure continuous product availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Inventory Control Procedures: Implement, maintain, and continuously improve inventory control procedures and policies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Lead regular audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations, including ownership of cycle count processes for high‑turning products to monitor accuracy and replenishment effectiveness.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to company policies, audit requirements, and applicable market legal standards for inventory processes. Develop, implement, and maintain risk mitigation strategies to reduce shrinkage, operational errors, and compliance exposure.
- System Management: Train store teams and Area Managers on inventory systems and processes, including WEBIM and SAP. Partner with IT to identify, prioritize, and implement system enhancements that improve data quality, efficiency, and user experience.
- Vendor and Process Management: Oversee the vendor lifecycle and Purchase Order (PO) processes related to inventory operations. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and strengthen operational control.
- Reporting, KPI Development, and Insights: Prepare, analyze, and present regular reports on inventory metrics, accuracy, and shrinkage. Define, monitor, and continuously refine KPIs related to inventory accuracy and loss prevention. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to Retail Leadership to support informed decision‑making.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Strategic Initiatives: Partner closely with Logistics, Warehousing, Finance, Planning, IT, and Retail Operations teams to align inventory strategies with broader business objectives. Lead and contribute to inventory‑related initiatives and projects, including PI Counts, Cycle Counts, GTM alignment, and logistical planning.
- Capacity Planning: Ensure inventory levels are aligned with seasonal transitions, sales forecasts, store capacity constraints, and upcoming product launches. Analyze historical data and forward‑looking demand to determine stock allocations that maximize availability while minimizing overstock risk.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Operations Management, Business Administration or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in inventory control, inventory accuracy, compliance, or retail operations, within multi‑store, consumer goods, or omnichannel retail environments.
- Must have demonstrated experience working in medium to large‑scale organizations with accountability for example 50+ stores, multi‑site operations, or regional / multi‑country scope. EMEA or international markets is a strong plus.
- 5+ years end-to-end ownership of inventory audits and accuracy activities, including physical inventories, cycle counts, reconciliations, variance analysis, and the execution of follow‑up corrective actions to address discrepancies and prevent recurrence.
- 4+years of proven experience in leading, planning and coordinating chain‑wide inventory counts across multiple locations, working closely with Store Operations, Field Leadership, Logistics, and external vendors to improve inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and cost control.
- Strong analytical capability with clear ownership for data accuracy, analysis, and reporting, supported by advanced working knowledge of Excel and BI tools (e.g. Power BI), and confidence working with WebIM ERP, POS, and inventory management systems (SAP experience preferred).
- Proven track record of working autonomously with end‑to‑end responsibility for delivering accurate, timely, and reliable inventory insights to support business decision‑making.
- Experience facilitating training, coaching, and knowledge‑sharing for relevant stakeholders (e.g. Store Managers, Area Managers, Field Leadership, Operations teams, and external partners) to ensure consistent execution of inventory processes, controls, and standards across the retail network.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills, enabling effective collaboration and building strong partnerships with Retail, Logistics, Warehousing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to own issues through resolution, prioritize actions, and propose practical, business‑focused solutions.
- Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and outcomes.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing business needs and seasonal fluctuations.
- Full-time availability (40 hours per week) is required, 3 days in our Hoofddorp office and with flexibility to travel occasionally to store locations across Europe.
