Overview
The Legal Counsel II for Crocs, Inc. serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing practical legal guidance across employment matters in the Netherlands and across international markets. This role independently manages moderately complex legal matters, balances legal risk with business objectives, and influences outcomes through expertise, sound judgment, and strong business partnership. The position requires significant experience in Dutch employment law, as well as the ability to lead cross-functional projects and navigate a dynamic global business environment.
What You'll Do
- Advise business leaders and HR partners on Dutch employment law matters, including employee relations, investigations, performance management, restructurings, dismissals, leave administration, and workplace compliance.
- Support European and international employment matters outside the Netherlands by partnering with stakeholders and external counsel to issue spot and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of employment-related vendor agreements.
- Identify and assess legal and business risks, providing practical, business-focused recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
- Manage employment disputes, litigation, investigations, and regulatory inquiries in partnership with external counsel.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments across the Netherlands, EU, and other key markets, translating requirements into actionable business guidance.
- Lead cross-functional legal projects and process improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance, efficiency, and risk management.
- Build trusted stakeholder relationships, influence decisions through expertise, and contribute to the development of legal team capabilities
- Work closely with HR in developing strong relationships with local works councils
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Law degree from an accredited university and qualification to practice law in the Netherlands, with ability to support Dutch employment law matters.
- 5+ years of legal experience, including law firm and/or in-house counsel experience.
- Strong expertise in Dutch employment law and practical experience supporting employment matters across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Experience advising on employee relations, investigations, workforce restructuring, employment claims, and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment-related agreements.
- Proven ability to independently manage moderately complex legal matters while balancing competing priorities and business needs.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance.
- Experience leading projects, driving process improvements, and operating effectively within a global, matrixed organization.
- Experience in collaborating with works councils and advising the business on work council rights and obligations, in particular, under the Dutch Works Council Act.
