Job Purpose

The Director, Distribution Center is responsible for leading all aspects of EMEA distribution activities. As the Director, Distribution Center, you will be accountable for the strategic and operational management of our distribution center in the EMEA region. You will ensure efficient and cost-effective logistics operations, with a focus on customer happiness and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with other departments to improve overall performance and contribute to the growth and success of the organization.

What You'll Do

Long-term planning
Contribute to the global D&L strategy and maintain the strategic plan for Europe D&L by partnering with European business units and regional teams.
Offer insights for the continuous improvement of global standard processes.
People Management
Provide leadership and mentorship to distribution center staff, encouraging a culture of personal development and continuous improvement. Ensure all employees have clear SMART goals and are aligned with regional and global management objectives. Promote a positive work environment by encouraging open communication, recognizing achievements, and addressing any concerns or issues promptly. Foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration among staff.
Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
Staffing
Maintain staffing for Distribution activities, including succession planning. Drive a culture of personal development for all employees and own the succession plan for all staff positions.
Budgets
Set, manage, and achieve operational budgets. Drive the establishment and maintenance of two-way SLAs between business units (retail/wholesale/Ecomm), regional teams, and supply chain partners (internal and external).
Costing Mechanism
Establish a transparent activity-based costing mechanism for D&L with business units, building a clear understanding of the key drivers impacting service and cost. Improve Supply chain cycle time. Drive service improvements and reduce overall supply chain cycle times within an agreed cost structure.
Cost reduction
Maintain a ledger of cost reduction initiatives, contributing to the regional profit protection plan spanning the entire D&L space.
Project management
Provide direct project management on specific initiatives and sponsor projects in the D&L space with the team..Effective utilization of space and capacity. Support the management of SKU count elimination from the DC networks. Raise awareness and sponsor initiatives that promote effective utilization of space and capacity. Develop and implement strategies for inventory and warehouse management.
Forecast
Ensure ongoing shipment and receiving forecasts are maintained, and that appropriate capacity and flexibility are available to deliver against business needs.
Visibility
Drive supply chain visibility for all inbound and outbound shipments. Partner with internal vendors with exception-based management.
Business Reviews
Maintain Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with all major vendors. Manage the process for vendor business renewal and contract negotiation. Conduct, review, and analyze the business performance of the past month (MBR), identifies key insights, and develop actionable strategies for improvement.
Supply Chain architect
Provide input to the overall supply chain architecture for the European business, including a review of geographic locations.
Alignment
Maintain SMART goals for all staff members and collaborate with the regional and global management team to ensure appropriate top-down and bottom-up alignment.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • 15+ years’ confirmed experience in distribution and logistics.
  • 10+ years in management and leadership roles with growing responsibility.
  • Ability to think strategically, gather and synthesize large amounts of data and information, think objectively, and present facts and recommendations to senior executives.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external resources to advance business objectives.
  • Experience with ERP, warehousing and logistics systems, and Microsoft platform applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project), and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet changes in departmental and company requirements.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
