As Material Developer/Material Ops you will be a critical part of the Product Development Team, supporting the research and execution of materials in the overall process of product creation including concept, product design, prototype development, and testing phases. As a key member of the Materials team, you’ll investigate and manage developments for all products and material types, partnering with cross-functional and overseas teams.
This important position will manage the material development activities for unique timeline footwear platforms and related projects. Responsibilities center around three main themes.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage material efforts from initial product ideation to release to manufacturing.
- Support the product development process to ensure key deliverables are met and dates are achieved.
- Ensure materials support product margin targets and are realized to meet strategic goals.
- Validate that new materials meet design specifications and usage requirements.
- Manage the development and tracking of multiple material projects to prescribed timelines.
- Use project-tracking tools to ensure materials are developed to company standards.
- Maintain clear global communication on the status of developments. This includes written, verbal, and system driven communication.
- Work with our international materials teams and suppliers for successful technical developments, calendar management, and critical initiatives.
- Evolve and maintain organized digital and physical materials resources and libraries.
- Provide the latest information on material trends to cross-functional teams by gathering insights from fairs, supplier meetings and industry resources.
- Build relationships and an environment that promotes world class development collaboration.
- Use and analyze metrics with Senior leaders to develop benchmarks.
- Monitor the cost and quality during the material development process.
- Work with teams and vendors to instill a proactive, solution-based development organization.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Design or equivalent experience, with demonstrated experience in consumer product design/development, including 2+ years in materials or textile engineering.
- Manages and organizes critical short-term goals for business development. Applies internal and external partnerships that enhance business efficiency through resource utilization.
- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership by guiding and influencing decision-makers, while fostering the growth of cross-functional teams and cultivating a highly collaborative work environment.
- Project Management: Oversees Project Management and accuracy of the project development activity. Collaborates with global teams to make sure the material development projects, and load is appropriate for global teams and factories.
- Experience in working with international factories and working collaboratively with production/commercialization management.
- Strong negotiating skills and sense of urgency.
- Critical thinking and adaptability - balancing multiple priorities, communicating/advancing issues, and delivering results.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Title: Sr. Manager, Material Development
Salary or Pay Range: $130,000 - $140,000
Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities.
