Overview
The Chief Accounting Officer reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, is a hands-on leader responsible for all domestic and international accounting functions. This leader is a seasoned accounting professional with public company experience, deep knowledge of financial reporting and compliance regulations, strong leadership skills and the ability to contribute strategically to the company’s financial success.
What You'll Do
- Oversee all U.S. and international accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SEC, SOX, and other relevant regulatory standards, including the close process (monthly, quarterly, year-end), billing, collections, cash management, and multi-entity consolidation.
- Optimize and evolve accounting systems, processes, and KPIs for efficiency, leveraging technology to achieve best in class standards.
- Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams, including remote and offshore staff, by mentoring, setting clear goals, and providing continuous feedback, while fostering a positive, value-driven team culture aligned with company purpose.
- Establish and oversee a robust internal controls structure to ensure the integrity of all financial data and reports, mitigate risks, and champion continuous improvements to adapt to changing business environments.
- Direct general and international accounting activities, budgeting, analysis, and reporting; partner with FP&A to deliver timely, actionable insights to the business each month.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships through clear and effective communication; serve as a strong cross-functional and collaborative partner to the business.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and CPA required.
- Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including experience as a Chief Accounting Officer/Controller.
- Solid experience in a public international company with a strong understanding of governance and reporting requirements.
- Expertise in U.S. and international accounting standards, government regulations, financial reporting, and accounting systems.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams, including remote and offshore staff.
- Significant experience with accounting and reporting systems, and strong analytical and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills to engage all levels of the organization and external partners.
- Strong executive presence.
- Ability to clearly explain complex financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in footwear/apparel, retail, or consumer product strongly preferred.

Salary or Pay Range: $360,000 - $370,000
Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities.
